NEOCLASSICAL PAVILION

The neoclassical design of this room was inspired by the fine classic architectural details of this important home in San Francisco’s Pacific Heights neighborhood. Italian gilt-wood armchairs from the 18th century were upholstered in old hand-printed Fortuny fabric, which has been produced in the same fashion for generations. An antique Venetian fragment of a hand carved hippocampus presides over the table of solid Italian travertine marble. To complement the bold sunburst patterned terrazzo floor, Marzo plastered the walls in a rusticated cafĂ© au lait tone and added elegant Brighton style window coverings in a cream and charcoal striped silk taffeta. The result is a room that is dramatically elegant yet warm and inviting.
